Back to School 2008

That Time of Year Again

Well, it’s that time of year yet again. Parents are waiting anxiously, getting a bigger smile with every day crossed off the calendar. Kids are groaning and dreading the approaching day. You’ve probably guessed it - time to get ready to back to school!
As parents we know how important a good education is, but often overlooked is the crucial role technology now plays in school. Kids are introduced as early as Kindergarten to the basics of computers. This early exposure is important as technology plays such a role in our society now, and will only continue to grow in its’ role. As a teacher myself, I know the effort that school districts are making to include technology in their curriculum.
A good way to give your child a head start technology is to provide them with age appropriate accessories, such as color coded keyboards to help with typing skills, as well as number and letter recognition. Computer mice that are smaller and decorated for children are also available, as well as educational software in several areas such as math and reading. Kids will love these items, and they will be learning too!
A wonderful resource for these items is www.kidsdesk.net. You can find all of the above and more, such as kids desks, other furniture for children, room décor, and even toys (educators - there is even a page for schools to find quality technology products for your classrooms!). I would highly recommend www.kidsdesk.net for parents who want their children to get an early start in technology, an area that will be so important in their future, and the future of our society.
