If you have a laptop, you probably don't want your kids to accidentally damage it. With a kids keyboard and kids mouse, you can relax and let them enjoy it without worry.

Improving Education | Classroom Technology

This is the last week of January, the holidays are over and the year is in full swing. We have a new President and he has indicated that he wants to improve education in the United States. This is a very important time and we need to ensure we take the steps necessary to improve education and prepare our kids for the challenges they will face in the future.

There are so many new tools and applications that are being used in classrooms around the nation that help increase productivity and improve the overall learning experience. To make learning fun and exciting teachers and educators need to be able to take advantage of technology that is available today. Now is the time to help teachers and educators bring classrooms into the 21st century and give children the tools they need to get the best education available. We are committed to helping teachers, parents and families. If you have any questions or would like some more information please visit our website @ www.KidsDesk.net

Feauturing: Chester Mouse - One Button Mouse

The Chester Mouse One Button Mouse has been very popular with schools, parents and educators that are looking for a solution that can serve many different needs. It's tiny one button design can assist children because a standard size mouse does not fit into their smaller hands and sometimes the buttons are too far apart.

Young children can get confused about which button they should use, the right or left button on the mouse. Clicking on small objects, using drag-and-drop and click-and-move can be frustrating. This mouse doesn't have a scroll wheel making it easy for kids to control. It's made of rugged plastic for strength and durability. It works excellent for special needs children.

Keeping your child busy in the winter.

During the cold winter months, your child may become restless as they are cooped up in the house more than usual. You can keep them busy with some fun indoor activities! Art and Crafts are a great and creative way to spend some time. Together, you and your child can make some homemade playdough. Once it is made, you child can play with the dough for hours. Baking cookies is also a really fun activity that both you and your child can enjoy doing together. They can help measure and pour in all the ingredients, stir the batter, and place it on the cookie sheet. 8-10 minutes later, they can enjoy the cookie they just made!

If your child wants to play outside in the snow, let them! Make sure and bundle them up in several thin layers of clothing and have them wear mittens and a hat. Go outside with them and help them build a snowman and make snow angels. These will create ever-lasting memories for your child.

Playdough Recipe
4 cups flour
1/4 cup powdered tempera
1/4 cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon oil

Mix together flour, powdered paint and salt. Mix water and oil, and food coloring if desired. Gradually stir the water and oil mix into the flour mix. Knead the playdough as you add the liquid. Add more water if too stiff, more flour if sticky.

Technology in the Classroom

Technology in the classroom is being utilized more than ever before. It allows teachers and students communicate better, more effectively and allows parents be more hands on in their child's education. Many teachers already provide their assignments to the students electronically such as a cd-rom. In others situations teachers have now started to provide weekly email updates to parents letting them know how things are going.

Teachers are redefining their curriculum can benefit their students. One trend we have seen is teachers starting to write blogs to give parents a crystal clear picture on how the school year is progressing. This not only helps parents be more involved but it gives more access even with very busy schedules. Technology in the classroom is changing education in a variety of ways and we provided some resources below if you would like to learn more.
